I had just broken up with my boyfriend Steven and I felt really sad. I sat at home crying and looking at his photos. My friend Eve came round and she asked me what I was going to do on Saturday. I had told her nothing so she got me to go speed dating with her. I hadn't been keen at first to go to the speed dating venue in Leaves Green. However Eve has told me that there was going to be a disco dance later that evening. That persuaded me to go and off I went to the speed dating venue that Saturday.
I was so really nervous at the speed dating. I sat at the table and looked at the guy sitting opposite me. He was absolutely gorgeous looking with his golden hair and pale blue eyes. A lady gave me a score card and then she rang a bell. The man was number one and told me that his name was Dave. He told me he worked as a life guard in the summer on the beach and in the indoor swimming complex in the winter. He liked swimming, football, tennis, rugby and dancing. I thought he looked fit and healthy.
The only other man I liked was number seven because all the other guys were terrible. He was really tall, dark and handsome. He had brown eyes and dark brown hair with a tanned skin. I thought he looked really hunky indeed. He liked walking, running, reading and cinema. He told me he worked as a gardener at the botanical gardens.
Before we filled out our score cards we had the chance to mingle at the disco dancing. Eve danced next to me to the tune of Holiday. Then the tune called Careless whisper came on and Dave took my arm. He held me close to him and we did a slow dance with me. Eve danced that tune with Jonathan the really boring man that was number five.
I filled out my score card and got back six pieces of paper with the telephone numbers of the men. I got home and then the phone rang. It was Dave inviting me out to go ice skating. I had thought that would be exciting so I said yes. We went skating on Wednesday evening. He was dressed in a plastic jacket and a tight pair of trousers. I felt unsteady on the ice so he held my hand. Afterwards he got me under a tree and kissed me.
Our second date was a game of tennis which he let me win. That evening he took me back to his house. He let me have a bath and then when I came out he took my hand and led me to have a drink of wine on the patio. We kissed on the bench and then he asked if I wanted to spend the night with him. That night we made love together on his four poster bed. He said he loved me but I still missed Steven.
