Janice slammed her apartment door closed, threw her coat over a chair

Janice slammed her apartment door closed, threw her coat over a chair and stormed into her bedroom, removing her stiletto heels as she went. She was so angry and kept telling herself over and over that it was time she stopped dating boys and started dating men. She had just had another lousy date in a cheap restaurant with a guy that had insisted on splitting the tab and used his calculator to do it. Admittedly, Janice didn't expect to dine for free all the time and was more than willing to pay her share. However, lately, it seemed like the guys she was dating were immature, irresponsible and really clueless about how to treat a lady.

Not only were they lousy in public - they were equally frustrating in private. Invited to a man's apartment for dinner and a rented movie, Janice would be more than receptive to a cuddle on the couch or even a little kissing and caressing in the dark. These boys were not interested in taking things slow. They instantly tried to treat her like a girlfriend, not a date, and would proceed to paw all over her and expect her to perform in ways she was not at all prepared to do. She'd had enough and decided that it was high time she started dating men that would treat her respectfully... romantically... wining and dining her in a manner that made her feel wanted and desirable - not manhandled like a piece of meat.

Janice was still young. In her early twenties to be exact. Yet, she had always been very mature for her age. She related better to older people because they seemed more intelligent, much of the time, and certainly better cultured. However, people in her peer group were always fixing her up on dates with the latest "hottie." Sure, the guys were gorgeous but all their muscle was in their biceps and none of it seemed to be in their heads. Janice knew that she was never going to be happy if she didn't make some serious changes in her habits when it came to dating men.

Pouring herself a cup of tea, she found she was already much calmer. She started to cultivate a plan about how her social life would change. Maybe she'd look into some online dating - meeting and dating men that already knew what they wanted out of life. She'd most certainly pay more attention to that gentleman at work that seemed to be dropping by her office more and more often to chat. She never seemed to know why he showed up but she knew that she was always glad he did. Finally, she resolved to say a definite no to any future blind dates concocted by her friends. Hottie or not, she was on a mission to find a real man.
